Remote Console Port Control: RAS Replacement

Remote Access Service or Remote Access Server (RAS) refers to any combination of hardware and software that enables the remote access control on a network such as a computer network or router. When a problem occurs in the existing network, the users usually can only examine and control the problem by a console port.

Connecting Sollae Systems’ serial to Ethernet device server with the console port and generating a network called “Out of Band” (OB network), you can access your equipment’s console port to monitor and control the equipment. In other words, RAS equipment can be replaced by using our device server and OB network.
Remote Management of Base Station

In order to manage equipment in an unmanned base transceiver station (BTS), additional manpower is required to visit the site regularly. When a problem occurs with the equipment, it takes a longer time to take an appropriate action. Time needs to be invested to determine a cause of the problem in the first place.
Sollae Systems’ console servers, CSE-T16 and CSE-T32, are an ideal solution for this problem. The console servers help you connect your system console to a network. Once a network connection is enabled, you can identify the problem of the equipment through the console server from a remote site as well as recover the system. In addition, you can also reset, reboot, and reconfigure your equipment without visiting the site.
Remote Console Monitoring

Various industrial network devices such as a router are embedded with console ports to develop, evaluate, test and control equipment. Such console ports normally communicate through RS232. However, RS232 based communication limits your access to the console ports due to short communication distance and one-to-one communication. Its access is also limited to the users on the site. Sollae Systems’ console server, however, helps these console ports to connect to the network in order to facilitate remote diagnosis of your devices or software development.
Our multi-port console server offers an ideal solution to remove all the difficulties on the composition of wiring or network caused by serial communication’s characteristics in the case of developing and controlling dozens of devices with a PC. Additionally, with Soft AP offered by Sollae Systems’ serial WLAN device server, you can easily manage your devices through their console ports regardless of the distance.
Console Management

When there is a problem in a computer system, a majority of the system managers try to access to the device via a console port. Most of the IT equipment are equipped with a system console port, and console connection is a common method for managing the equipment. There are advantages and disadvantages of using a console port. Console ports are available regardless of network or system failures. Also, it can be directly connected to a serial port for controlling and monitoring the system. Nevertheless, there is a disadvantage of distance.
Such disadvantage can be overcome by Sollae Systems’ console servers by converting serial communication to the Ethernet communications. CSE-T16 and CSE-T32 connect a system console to a network. This network connection solves the constraint of distance communication of a console server.
