SMG-5620 – Industrial Modbus Gateway (RS232/RS422/RS485 ↔ Modbus/TCP)
SMG-5620 is an industrial Modbus Gateway that converts and routes Modbus data between the serial line and Modbus/TCP. It combines a rugged steel enclosure, electrical isolation, and a universal serial interface (selectable RS232/RS422/RS485) to build reliable Modbus bridges in harsh industrial environments.
Key features of the SMG-5620
- • Industrial Modbus gateway between serial Modbus (RTU/ASCII) and Modbus/TCP.
- • Selectable RS232/RS422/RS485 “universal” serial port with electrical isolation.
- • Supports multiple TCP connections (up to 4 channels) and password-based access control.
- • Bypass mode: forwards raw TCP payload to serial (and back) without converting Modbus ADU—useful for non-Modbus serial protocols.
- • Rugged build: steel case, over-voltage protection, and frame grounding terminal.
RTU / ASCII conversion + Bypass mode
SMG-5620 supports standard Modbus conversion modes for RTU and ASCII, translating Modbus/TCP ADU to serial Modbus ADU and vice versa. When you need a simple serial tunnel, Bypass mode transfers TCP payload to serial data without Modbus conversion.
- • Use Modbus/RTU mode for classic RTU field devices connected to Modbus/TCP hosts.
- • Use Modbus/ASCII mode when your serial side requires ASCII framing.
- • Use Bypass mode for “serial-over-TCP” style forwarding (non-Modbus serial payloads).
